Lunch ideas
A smaller gathering or a break between celebrations starts here. Check what is included in each serving before planning extras.

France
Carrot & Potato Soup
A smooth orange carrot and potato soup with thyme and a cream swirl makes an easy Halloween lunch. Serve with crusty bread and decorate each bowl if you wish.
Before you choose: This recipe includes bread. Read the hot-liquid blending directions before using a countertop blender.

Ireland
Colcannon
Fluffy mashed potatoes, tender cabbage and scallions make this Irish-inspired Halloween colcannon. A simple, cozy lunch with butter and clear cooking tips.
Before you choose: Mash the potatoes by hand, then fold in the cabbage. This is the potato-and-cabbage dish itself, without an additional main course.
Dinner to gather around
Plan around your main dish first. Check equipment, timing and any sides you need to prepare separately.

Greece
Rice & Beef Stuffed Peppers
Bell peppers filled with seasoned beef, rice, tomatoes and oregano make a satisfying Halloween dinner. Use orange peppers and add simple faces if you like.
Before you choose: Start with cooked rice as listed in the ingredients. Use the full recipe’s temperature checks for the beef and filled peppers.

Italy
Pumpkin Sage Risotto
Roasted pumpkin, sage and Parmesan turn creamy risotto into a cozy Halloween dinner. Follow clear broth-by-broth directions for tender rice and rich flavor.
Before you choose: The pumpkin roasts while the rice is prepared. Keep the broth warm and plan to serve soon after cooking.
A sweet finish
Choose a sweet finish that fits your group. Cooling and chilling can take longer than the hands-on preparation.

Ireland
Tea Barmbrack
Tea-soaked raisins, orange zest and warm spice create a moist Irish-inspired barmbrack for Halloween. This simple loaf needs an overnight soak but no kneading.
Before you choose: The raisins need at least eight hours of refrigerated soaking. Start ahead and leave time for the loaf to cool.
Build your Halloween menu
For breakfast: the pancakes serve four. Allow for batch cooking and keep the pan temperature moderate; read the full method before starting.
For lunch: choose the carrot and potato soup or colcannon. The soup recipe includes bread; colcannon is a potato-and-cabbage dish, so decide whether you want to add something alongside it.
For dinner: choose stuffed peppers or risotto. The peppers need cooked rice before the filling is assembled. Risotto needs regular attention near serving time, so avoid pairing it with another hands-on last-minute dish.
For dessert: start the barmbrack fruit soak the night before. Its long total time includes soaking and cooling, not ten hours at the stove. The loaf makes twelve slices.
